TITAN IS A MINI-MARVEL IN THE WORLD OF SMOOTH OPERATORS

IMAGINE rubbing out lines and wrinkles in the time it takes to drink a cup of tea. In just five minutes a deep frown line on my forehead was erased thanks to the Titan, a treatment that has just arrived in Scotland.

The infrared light process enjoys a celebrity following in America but is now available at Aesthetic Skin in Glasgow.

Any area of the body can be treated, from a stretched tummy to saggy underarms or lines and wrinkles.

The procedure treats lax skin and can also be used to tone, lift and tighten skin on the face and neck.

There's the obligatory medical questionnaire first but the treatment itself takes just a few minutes. I lay back on the bed and my eyes were covered to protect them from the Titan's bright light.

The machine is very small and handheld. Amanda ran it over my forehead, covering the area I wanted "fixed" and following the line of muscles.

It is billed as being painless and, though I experienced a very slight discomfort, it was uncomfortable rather than painful and I happily agreed to an increase in the intensity.

After a few minutes it was all done and when I sat up and looked in the mirror, my forehead was the smoothest it had been since my teens.

Even more surprising, there was no redness or any other markings.

The Titan works by heating the dermis, the second layer of the skin, to cause collagen to contract, while protecting the top layer, the epidermis, by continuous cooling.

It can also help to stimulate the long-term collagen rebuilding that keeps skin plump and youthful.

While I was already happy with the results, Amanda explained the light treatment continues to work over a period of three weeks, improving the appearance of lines and wrinkles over time. A course of applications is recommended for significant improvements .
